Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Margin Health’s website, mobile application, and services (“Services”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part, you may not use our Services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Margin, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be bound by them. If you are using Margin on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Services

Margin Health provides an AI-powered financial intelligence platform for consumer healthcare. Our Services include:

  • Insurance deductible and benefits tracking
  • Medical bill analysis and error detection
  • Procedure timing and pricing optimization
  • FSA/HSA optimization and deadline alerts
  • Prescription price comparison
  • AI-powered health financial insights via Margin HI (Health Intelligence)

Services are provided on a subscription basis with a free tier and paid Pro tier.

Margin HI is a financial intelligence tool. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional healthcare or financial advice.

3. Account Registration

To use Margin you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Keep your login credentials confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Margin to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Submit false or misleading information
  • Attempt to access other users’ accounts
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software
  • Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from our platform
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity of our Services
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Use the Services for any purpose other than personal healthcare financial management

5. Health Information Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: Margin provides financial intelligence about healthcare costs and insurance benefits. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.

Margin HI analyzes financial and insurance data to help you make informed financial decisions about healthcare. Our insights are based on:

  • Your insurance plan data
  • Publicly available pricing data (CMS, hospital chargemasters)
  • Your connected account data

Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making medical decisions. Procedure timing recommendations consider financial factors only — your doctor’s clinical judgment supersedes any recommendation from Margin.

6. Subscription and Billing

Free Tier

The free tier is available at no cost with limited features as described on our pricing page. We reserve the right to modify free tier features at any time.

Pro Subscription

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly ($9.99/month) or annually ($79.99/year). Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial periods.

Refunds

We offer a full refund within 14 days of your first Pro subscription payment if you are not satisfied. Contact hello@marginhealth.org to request a refund.

Price Changes

We will provide 30 days notice before any price changes. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

7. Intellectual Property

Margin Health owns all rights to the Margin platform, including software, design, algorithms, and content we create. Your data remains yours — we claim no ownership over your personal health or financial information.

You grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide the Services described in these Terms.

8. Privacy and Data

Your use of Margin is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using Margin you consent to our data practices as described in that policy.

To the extent we process Protected Health Information as defined by HIPAA, we do so as a Business Associate and maintain required safeguards. See our HIPAA Compliance page for details.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We do not warrant that the Services will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • We are not liable for the accuracy of insurance pricing data obtained from third-party sources
  • Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our discretion with reasonable notice.

You may terminate your account at any time from your settings. Upon termination we will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by:

  • Email to your registered address
  • In-app notification
  • Updated date at top of this page

Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
